ALL political parties and the media condemned the Model Town incident. The PML-N also disowned it by calling it mismanagement of police officials concerned.
A similar incident, if not more intense, was averted in Islamabad owing to the sagacity of the then SSP, Mohammad Ali Nekokara, during the PTI and PAT sit-ins.
Ironically, instead of being rewarded, he has been dismissed. His only fault was his refusal to kill innocent people in Islamabadand.
As a concerned Pakistani, I would like to raise a few questions. First, do civil servants owe their loyalty to the state and its constitution or to political elites? Second, why do the media, particularly the electronic, and our political parties only condemn injustice after its occurrence? Third, will the police be able to function impartially after the dismissal of police officers of good repute for political reasons only.
