PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Parvez Khattak on Monday launched the Women Empowerment Policy Framework.
The announcement was made at a ceremony organised by the Provincial Commission on the Status of Women, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the department of social welfare, special education and women empowerment, at the Chief Minister House here.
A press release issued by the PCSW, said the policy framework was an overall framework for development and empowerment of women in the province initiated by the social welfare department and supported by PCSW.
Members of provincial assembly, minister for law Imtiaz Shahid, dignitaries from the UN agencies and development sector and civil society organisations were in attendance.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Khattak pledged to help accomplish all the measures prescribed in the framework for the greater development of women. He also said the government would ensure allocation of resources to implementation of the framework.
Dr Mehr Taj Roghani, CM adviser, said the social welfare, special education and women empowerment would take proper measures for coordinating the implementation of the policy framework.
PCSW chairperson Neelum Toru stressed that the commission should be given financial and administrative autonomy for playing its role effectively.
