HYDERABAD: Two matches were played in the ongoing Red Bull Campus Cricket on Thursday.
In the first match played at the Niaz Stadium, Hyderabad, Govt Degree College beat ISRA University by seven wickets.
Batting first, ISRA University batsmen struggled to reach 123 for seven in the stipulated overs against some fine bowling by the opposition. Only Nabeel (24) and Ubaid (33) showed some resistance as Salman Zaidi (2 for 9) and Danial (2 for 18) bowled superbly to restrict their rivals.
In reply, Govt Degree College reached the target in the 15th over for the loss of three wickets with Daniyal (58), Misbah (23) and Asif (21) batted well and never allowed the ISRA bowlers too dominate.
In the other match played in Multan’s Govt Emerson College Ground, Bahauddin Zakariya University beat City College by six wickets.
Batting first, City College were dismissed for just 100 in the 19th over, thanks to some incisive bowling from the opposition. Only Shoaib (28) and Rehan (24) batted well as Suraka (2 for 21), Mohsin Malik (2 for 30) and Saad Qureshi (2 for 23) ran through their batting.
In reply, Bahauddin Zakariya University reached the target for the losss of four wickets. The architect of victory were Taimur Shahab (33), Aitzaz Latif (31) and Saad Qureshi (29) who made short work of the opposition bowlers to lead their team to win in the 18th over.
The fourth edition of Red Bull campus cricket commenced on Wednesday (April 15) and will spread its wings to 17 cities covering 85 campuses.
The added cities will enable the campus to reach out to more players, engage more universities and thus discover the hidden gems in Pakistan.
The winners from these cities will compete in the ?nal leg of the competition and the eventual champion will represent Pakistan in the World Finals to be staged in India in October 2015.
