JI asks people to elect honest candidates

KOHAT: The Jamaat-i-Islami, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, chief Professor Mohammad Ibrahim has asked the people to elect those candidates in the coming local bodies polls who have good reputation and can serve them better.

He was speaking at public meetings at Takht and Mandoori areas here on Sunday, where several families announced joining the JI.

Those joined the JI included former nazim Qasim Shah, Gul Mir and Hussain Shah. The JI chief said that joining of prominent political personalities would strengthen the party in these areas.

He said that the JI, whether in power or not, had struggled against poverty, illiteracy, and for rule of law and peace in the country.

Mr Ibrahim said that the JI had also been struggling for implementation of principles of Quran and Sunah in the country. He urged the people to vote for those who believe in public welfare.

The JI leader nominated Qasim Shah of Mandoori as candidate for the district councillor and Aftab Khan as councillor from Lachi tehsil.

RAIN TURNS WEATHER PLEASANT: Families made most of the weekend on Sunday by visiting the Tanda Dam resort and enjoyed themselves pleasant weather after heavy rain lashed the area with intervals from Saturday night till Sunday afternoon.

Fun lovers also enjoyed catching Rao and Masher fish, a local delicacy, and boating in the Tanda Lake. Children thronged the mini zoo and the fish ponds built by a local man for the pleasure of the visitors.

Big rush of people was also seen at the fish huts on the Bannu road.

Families along with children visited the KDA Park, enjoying long drives on Bannu and Hangu roads. They took lunch and tea at the famous Chilli Bagh, enjoying natural springs.

However, the tourists faced hardships as road leading to the dam and other streets became almost impassable due to the mud and stinking filth brought by the heavy rain.
