MQM won through bogus voter lists: SirajArchive
LAHORE: Jamaat-i-Islami Emir Sirajul Haq alleges that the party could not win in the recent Karachi by-polls because the rival MQM had prepared bogus voters’ list and identity cards.
He was speaking at a Jamaat parliamentary board meeting here on Wednesday.
“The Jamaat-i-Islami and the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf could not compete against the MQM because of bogus voters’ lists and fake identity cards that had been prepared in the sector offices of the MQM.”
Referring to the law and order situation in the port city, he said it had improved remarkably due to the Rangers operation and the business community felt much relieved. However, he said, the elements who had been repeatedly demanding military operation were now trying to make the exercise controversial while the people of Karachi wanted the operation to be intensified.
He said arrest of notorious killers like Faisal Mota and Ajmal Pahari from Nine Zero was an ample proof that hardened criminals had found protection in the MQM folds.
The JI emir strongly condemned the murder of Assistant Prof Wahiduz Zaman of the Karachi University, and said the targeted killing of four university teachers within a year should be a matter of concern for the rulers.
