Cost estimation for The Mall’s reconstruction soughtArchive
LAHORE: The city administration on Monday sought submission of a working paper amid cost estimation for reconstruction (carpeting, etc.) of The Mall.
The road comes under the controlled area of the City District Government of Lahore (CDGL) and it needs immediate reconstruction or maintenance because of its dilapidated condition at various stretches.
According to a spokesman, the CDGL has asked also the city traffic police to devise an alternate route plan for the commuters well before the construction work.
Meanwhile, the CDGL assigned the district officer (monitoring) the task to launch a crackdown on the cafeterias and canteens and other such businesses on the premises of hospitals, railway station, parks and other public places for overcharging.
On the other hand, various price control magistrates ordered arrest of many shopkeepers for overcharging. They also imposed Rs95,500 fine on several others.
POLIO: The CDGL’s health wing launched a special round of a three-day polio drive in 74 sensitive union councils of the city district.
According to a spokesman, 1,919 polio teams will administer polio drops to 600,000 children of up to five years of age.
