Factory fire

Factory fire

ON May 4 a garment factory caught fire in Karachi’s SITE area near Valika Hospital. Five factory workers, including women, were injured.

This has not happened for the first time. Even earlier also people witnessed such incidents that claimed the lives of their near and dear ones.

As always the fire was extremely intense but fire-fighters were not on time. They had to face much difficulty in reaching the place as the factory was located in a narrow street. Later the fire-fighters ran out of water.

Such cases are very common in Pakistan. There is no proper system for anything. Authorities concerned are least bothered about such things as they themselves do not suffer. Moreover, there is no punishment for those responsible for the tragedy and no care or sympathy for the sufferers.
