Two guest houses sealed in Peshawar

PESHAWAR: The Municipal Corporation Peshawar (MCP) has sealed two guest houses in the University Town for functioning in the residential colony.

A statement issued here on Thursday said that the guest houses – Shelton guest house and Green Cottage guest house – had already been issued several notices for violating the bylaws of local government, but they avoided to take notice and continued commercial activities.

It was stated that the plots were allotted for residential purpose, but the owners had been using them for commercial activities. Keeping in view the complaints of local residents, the Peshawar High Court had already issued directives to the department concerned to take action against the violators.

MCP administrator Zafar Ali Shah, later, directed the magistrate concerned to implement the court orders. The area dwellers have been complaining against the violations of bylaws and urging the government to stop misuse of residential plots in the University Town.

The people have also protested against the encroachments and illegal occupation of different roads in name of security barriers, and demanded of the official quarters to remove the hurdles and ensure smooth flow of traffic in the University Town.
