Swati accorded warm welcome in hometownArchive
MANSEHRA: PTI provincial president Azam Khan Swati was extended a warm welcome on Saturday by the workers and local leaders of the party on his arrival in his native town after being elected a senator.
“I am thankful to party workers and people of Mansehra, who extended me such a great welcome and I am optimistic they would also show the same gesture in the upcoming local government elections. We would sweep the elections in the province,” Mr Swati told a public meeting.
The party workers received Mr Swati at Datta, a boundary between Mansehra and Abbottabad, and took him to the residence of Babar Saleem Swati in a vehicle procession.
Mr Swati said that PTI chairman Imran Khan dreamed such Khyber Pakhtunkhwa where the rights of people without any discrimination were protected. “Our government in the province has introduced such a local government system, which devolves powers to grassroots level,” he added.
He said that drastic steps were being taken by the government to provide education and health services to the people in the province.
Mr Swati said that medicines were also provided free of cost to patients. “We have also taken drastic steps to ensure quality education to our youth and reduce the dropout percentage to zero and ultimately we can achieve the highest literacy rate,” he said.
The PTI leader said that provincial government was also working on a plan to ensure justice to all as till everyone without any discrimination was not equal in the eyes of justice the crime would increase instead being decreased.
Speaking on the occasion, Babar Saleem Swati said that PTI would form local government in district after the upcoming elections. He said that people wanted a change.
SUICIDE: A woman committed suicide by jumping in the Kunhar River in Gari Habibullah on Saturday.
The woman identified as Kiran Bibi made to sit her minor daughter at the bank and then jumped in the river. Some labourers, working there, saw the woman jumping in rive and informed police. The policemen rushed to scene and fished out the body from the river in Karnol Balli area.
The body was handed over to family after doctors autopsied it at civil hospital in Gari Habibullah. Police said that the deceased woman was mother of two minor girls. They said that the minor girl, who was found at the scene of occurrence, was handed over to her father Abdul Shakoor.
They said that nobody came to lodge FIR. Police interrogated the husband of woman, who said that they developed difference over a domestic issue and his wife went to rive and jumped in it.
