Bilal hopes fastest T20 ton will change his fortunesArchive
KARACHI: Dashing all-rounder Bilal Asif has expressed hope that his fastest Twenty20 hundred on his debut may change his fortunes in getting a breakthrough in international cricket.
“It could be a turning point in my cricketing career and may change my fortunes,” Bilal told APP in an interview on Saturday. “My start was perfect and my confidence and timing got better and better with the passage of time,” he said. “The presence of captain Shoaib Malik at the other end and his guidance really was a boost for me.”
Bilal blasted 114 off just 48 balls which included ten towering sixes — both national records — while representing Sialkot Stallions against Abbotabad Falcons in the Super Eight T20 Cricket Tournament at Faisalabad on Friday night.
He said after such a spectacular knock, the expectations from him will be high and there will be more pressure but he was looking forward to his team’s semifinal match and his own consistency with the bat.
Bilal disclosed that he started as a bowler who could bat but now he has gained the reputation of a batsman.
Leading sports promoter and team owner Nadeem Omar wasalso all praise for Bilal who has been playing for Omar Associates for a long time now.
“He is a great talent and his dazzling hundred against a quality bowling attack is great achievement. He hoped that selectors have a good look at Bilal’s performance and should consider him in the two match Twenty20 series against Zimbabwe.
