Two buses burnt to ashes

RAWALPINDI: Mystery shrouds the burning of two air-conditioned buses plying on Rawalpindi-Kalar Syedan route.

A ten bus fleet was recently inaugurated by Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan. The police said they did not know who had set the two buses on fire or they were burnt accidentally.

The buses were allegedly set on fire sometime on Wednesday night while they were parked at their terminal.

Dost Muhammad, one of the drivers of the private transport company, in his complaint to the police said after parking their bus he and his colleague went to sleep. He said after midnight he observed smoke coming from the vehicles over the bus bay.

On seeing the fire, they rushed to the scene and found fire engulfing the two buses.

He said efforts were made to extinguish the fire but proved unfruitful as both the vehicles were badly damaged due to the fire.
