‘Discrepancies’ in judges’ posts result: plea dismissedArchive
LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Thursday dismissed a petition challenging alleged ‘discrepancies’ in the result announced for 696 posts of civil judges in Punjab.
A Punjab Bar Council member, Farhad Ali Shah, filed the petition saying the result available on the high court website carried many discrepancies as a number of successful candidates were listed as unsuccessful.
He said there was a great anxiety among the candidates about their future as the result issued for the posts of civil judges was unclear and defective.
The petitioner-lawyer asked the court to order an inquiry into the matter and hold the examinations afresh.
Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah took up the petition as an “objection case” as the registrar office had objected to its maintainability. The judge sustained the objection and dismissed the petition.
The LHC had on Wednesday issued the result on its website and the candidates could check their results by entering their national identity card numbers.
The legal circle had questioned the non-publishing of the result for public at large and termed it a violation to access to information law.
