RAHIM YAR KHAN: The Multan Electric Power Company (Mepco) has closed its customer service centre (CSC) in the Rahim Yar Khan circle at the Mepco complex which was inaugurated by the Mepco chief executive officer in December 2014.
The building and equipment of the CSC had cost Rs4.5 million to facilitate consumers round-the-clock to address their complaints.
The centre was to be run in three shifts by an SDO, a senior clerk, a sub-divisional clerk, a computer operator, a peon and a guard for each shift.
There are four divisions and 18 sub-divisions in the Rahim Yar Khan circle. In the beginning, there were only two linemen to perform their duty to address approximately 60 to 110 complaints a day.
According to some Mepco sources, the CSC was closed due to staff shortage. Mepco SE Wakeel Ahmed Nadir did not pick calls.
