Crackdown on defective bikes from tomorrow

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) will launch a crackdown on defective and unfit motorcycles from June 10.

According to a statement, motorcyclists driving bikes without helmets and side mirrors or those having defective indicators, headlights, rear lights and speed meters will face action.

He appealed to the citizens to get their motorcycles repaired within two days otherwise action would be taken against them. He said separate teams had been constituted to educate the bikers about safe drive which would perform duties at different points of the city including Garden Avenue, F-8 Exchange Road, Karachi Company, Tarnol, Bhara Kahu, Aabpara Chowk and Islamabad Chowk.

The SSP (Traffic) said the purpose of the campaign was to ensure safety of motorcyclists and prevent any mishap.

He said Honda Atlas would also assist motorcyclists during this campaign to repair the defective lights, indicators or other equipment.
