DBA objects to recruitment criteria for court staff

RAHIM YAR KHAN: District Bar Association members on Wednesday protested against the recruitment criteria for appointment of subordinate employees of court.

They questioned the alleged rejection of applications of thousands of candidates.

Rahim Yar Khan DBA General Secretary Rana Sheraz Ahmed said lawyers had been protesting on the issue for the last few days and announced boycott of courts after 10am daily.

He said a meeting of the general house presided over by President Jam Abdul Majeed Mustafai on Wednesday decided that lawyers would reject the appointments of court employees by the three-member selection committee.

The panel comprised District and Sessions Judge Syed Imam Ali Shah, Additional District and Sessions Judge Rana Muhammad Arif and Senior Civil Judge Jahangir Ashraf.

He alleged that the committee selected ‘blue-eyed’ candidates after receiving bribe and violated merit.

He said interviews scheduled to be held today (Wednesday) were ‘cancelled’.

According to some lawyers, AD&SJ Rana Muhammad Arif has resigned from the selection committee after DBA protest. However when contacted Rana’s cell was powered off.
