LAHORE: Chief Secretary Khizar Hayat Gondal ordered the constitution of a committee on Wednesday to formulate a fresh policy on recruitment in government departments.
At a meeting of administrative secretaries at the Civil Secretariat, Mr Gondal and other participants discussed matters like measures to resolve problems of overseas Pakistanis, implementation of job quota for people with special needs and foreign investment in the province.
Mr Gondal directed secretaries to cooperate with the Punjab Overseas Pakistanis Commission for resolving the problems of overseas Pakistanis.
He said overseas Pakistanis were an asset to the country and their problems should be resolved on a priority basis.
He ordered the setting up of a committee consisting of the senior member of the Board of Revenue, chairman of the Planning and Development and the secretaries of finance, services and regulation departments to prepare recommendations regarding mode of employment in government departments.
He directed the secretaries to ensure implementation of job quota for people with special needs and complete recruitment shortly. He also ordered the early disposal of pension cases and departmental inquiries.
On recommendation of the Punjab Board of Investment and Trade, the chief secretary directed the departments to identify the areas where foreign investment could be made.
The meeting was also briefed on issue of Punjab Employees Efficiency, Discipline and Accountability Act, online publication of substantive and delegated, subordinate legislation, progress on the disposal of delayed pension cases and the issue of retirement notification.
The meeting offered Fateha for former federal secretary Shehzad Hassan Pervaiz and presented a condolence resolution.
