‘Pharma companies producing quality drugs’

KARACHI: Despite pricing and policy constraints, pharmaceutical companies in Pakistan are producing quality drugs under the International Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers and Associations (IFPMA) Code of Conduct, a statement released by the representative body of pharma industry said.

During a visit to a GSK production facility in SITE, Karachi, Pharma Bureau (PB) representatives said that despite regulatory challenges, multinational pharmaceutical companies are keeping up with the global quality standards and good manufacturing practices.

The technical team at GSK plant was of the view that quality comes with a price tag since the cost of quality was not just in the ingredients but dependent on other factors too. They urged the government to ensure a smooth pricing and quality mechanism.
