ECP extends date for disposal of delimitation appeals

BAHAWALPUR: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has extended the date of the disposal of the objections/appeals against the proposed/preliminary delimitations of the union councils and wards in the rural as well as urban areas across the province for the upcoming local government polls.

Dawn has learnt that the ECP has now fixed July 26 for the decisions on the appeals on the preliminary delimitations. Earlier, July 20 was fixed for verdict on the appeals and objections by the delimitation authorities nominated in different regions across the province.

Talking to Dawn, officiating Bahawalpur regional election commissioner Mian Muhammad Shahid confirmed that the ECP had extended the date.




According to him, the extension in the date was necessitated due to the five holidays on account of Eidul Fitr.

With extension in the date, the hearing of the appeals is expected to be resumed after Eid holidays on Wednesday (today).

In Bahaawalpur, the process of disposal of over 550 appeals (from three districts) was being done by retired district and sessions judge Chaudhry Abdul Hafeaz.

Bahawalpur board results

The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE), Bahawalpur, has announced that the Matriculation Examination (Annual) 2015 result will be made public on July 25.

The BISE said a ceremony would be held to announce the result and honour the toppers from the division who would be awarded prizes and medals.

Haj training

The training programme for the intending pilgrims would begin from July 24.

The training would be held here at the auditorium of Quaid-i-Azam Medical College (QAMC) where notable ulema and experts would deliver lectures.
