Prize bond dealer robbed of Rs2.76m

RAWALPINDI: A prize bond dealer was robbed of bonds valuing Rs2.76 million in a broad daylight on Thursday, police said.

The robbery took place near the railway reservation office and close to the office of an intelligence agency.

Waqar Ahmed, who is associated with a trading company in Raja Bazaar, was going to office after purchasing 186 prize bonds worth Rs15,000 each from the State Bank of Pakistan on The Mall.

As he reached near the railway reservation office, two motorcyclists blocked his way. The armed men took him at gunpoint and snatch the bag containing the prize bonds and sped off.

The robbery victim called the emergency police for help but his effort proved unproductive as he was asked to first lodge a complaint with the Cantonment police.
