Man, woman killed over land dispute

MANSEHRA: A land dispute claimed lives of a man and a woman in Jabba area here on Wednesday.

According for police, members of a group went to the disputed piece of land for cultivating crop, prompting rivals to open fire on them. Later an exchange of fire ensured, in which two persons were killed from both the sides.

Those who were killed were identified as Mohammad Babar and Zareena Bibi.

The bodies were taken to the King Abdullah Teaching Hospital for autopsy and later handed over to their respective families.

The Saddar police registered FIR and began investigations to arrest the culprits.

WOMAN SEEKS PROTECTION: A woman whose two sons and another family member were killed in Darband last month has sought protection from the alleged killers.

“The police are on the back of killers of my two sons and if they are not arrested they might kill my entire family,” Sima Jan told a press conference in Oghi on Wednesday.

She said Daud, Gul Mohammad, Mohammad Liaqat, Mohammad Niaz, and Ali Zaman killed her sons Mohammad Sajjad, Mohammad Sheraz and a relative Mohammad Yousuf on first of Ramazan when they were coming out of a mosque in Brader area after performing Friday prayers.

She said the killers were influential people and police were supporting them.

“The accused have been threatening me and my family members to settle the dispute or get killed, but police are not arresting them,” she alleged.

Ms Jan appealed to the inspector general of police and deputy inspector general of Hazara range to take action against the Darband police for failing to arrest the culprits.

She also threatened to commit self-immolation if justice was not dispensed to her family.
