PESHAWAR: DIG Mubarak Zeb took over as the new chief of the Peshawar police on Friday.
A notification issued from the establishment department said Mr Zeb, a BPS-19 officer, who was serving as DIG headquarters at the central police office, had taken over as Capital City Police Officer, Peshawar, replacing incumbent CCPO Ijaz Ahmed. Mr Ahmed, a BPS-19 officer, had been asked to report to the CPO for proceeding on a foreign scholarship.
According to a statement issued from the central police office, Mr Zeb assumed the charge in a ceremony held at the police lines. A police contingent presented guard of honour to him.
Hailing from Upper Dir, Mubarak Zeb joined the Police Service of Pakistan in 2,000 and has served DIG headquarters, DIG inquiry and inspection, DPO Kohat, Nowshera, Karak and SSP coordination Peshawar.
He has a masters’ degree in English literature from the University of Peshawar and received his LLM degree from prestigious London School of Economics in 2004-05. He is also Hubert Humphrey fellow, wherein he underwent professional training in law and human rights in the United States.
The notification also said that DIG Mohammad Alam Shinwari, who was awaiting posting in the central police office, had been posted as DIG headquarters, and Mohammad Zafar Ali, also awaiting posting, was transferred and posted as DIG traffic.
