‘Rulers behind Mushahid’s talk’Archive
LAHORE: Tehrik-i-Istiqlal president Rehmat Khan Wardag says the nation carried portraits of General Raheel Sharif along with those of the Quaid-i-Azam on the Independence Day but the rulers could not tolerate the appreciation for the army chief and they asked Mushahidullah Khan to speak against a former chief of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).
Condemning Mushahid’s statement, Mr Wardag alleged that since the start of work on Pak-China Economic Corridor (PCEC) conspiracies against the project by India, US, Israel and some Muslim countries reached a new peak but they could not succeed for the army was providing security cover to the companies working on it.
Not naming anybody, he said some politicians had most of their assets in some Muslim states which wanted to get the work halted on the PCEC, particularly on the Gwadar port, and for the purpose they were using the politicians to make the role of armed forces controversial for sabotaging these projects.
Mr Wardag recalled that when work on Gwadar port started by Musharraf regime, the law and order situation in Balochistan was worsened by the states which considered that the new port would damage their ports and economies.
He said it was also disturbing to note that telephone calls of the most sensitive institution’s chief had been tapped putting a question mark on the defence of the country and demanded the authorities concerned take action on the report.
