WITHOUT any exception, our national anthem is one of the best pieces of poetry, a gift to this nation by Hafiz Jallandhry. As you try to understand it, you feel bound to praise the writer. With deep meanings and perfection of its message to future generations, our anthem is a jewel in itself.
Sadly though, our youth is completely ignorant of its meaning or translation because it has never been part of our school syllabus.
I urge education authorities, instead of including some ghazals in 8th, 9th and 10th classes, the national anthem be made part of the school curriculum nationwide.
This will help our youth to understand this marvellous piece of poetry.
