Properties of nine absconders auctioned

MIANWALI: The district police have auctioned properties worth Rs4 million of nine notorious absconders.
Sources in police said most of the absconders were hiding in the adjacent tribal area which was beyond the access to police.
District Police Officer Sarfraz Khan Virk said a campaign was launched to auction the properties so as to pressurise the absconders.
He said the properties were being auctioned through the revenue department and the auctioned money was being deposited with the national kitty.
Sources said 14.19 kanal land of absconder Habibullah and 5.13 kanals of Shah Jehan of Musakhel were auctioned for Rs568,100 and Rs649,750, respectively. Both absconders were wanted in encounter cases by the Musakhel police.
They said 6.3 kanal land of absconder Said Khan of Bainawala was auctioned for Rs922,500. The absconder was wanted in a murder case by the Musakhel police.
The 5.9 kanal land of absconder Saifullah of Tola Bangi Khel was auctioned for Rs649,750 as he was wanted in a murder case by the Bangi Khel police.
The properties of two absconders -- Faizur Rehman of Bandri (22 kanal) and Khaliq Hayat (15.4 kanal) -- were auctioned for Rs200,000 and Rs646,000, respectively.
The properties of absconders Khan Gul (7.1 kanal) and Muhammad Hayat of Janjuani (2.11 kanal) were auctioned for Rs92,000 and Rs31,000, respectively. Both the absconders were wanted in dacoity and murder cases by the Chapri police.
The property of absconder Nasrullah Khan of Isakhel (108 kanal) was auctioned for Rs978,300 as he was wanted in a murder case by the Makarwal police.
Since absconder Sultan Muhammad alias Mithu of Dhok Ghazan surrendered to police before the auction of his property (902 kanal), the auction proceedings were cancelled. He was wanted in a murder case by the Chakrala police, they said.
The DPO has directed all station house officers in the district to take control of properties of the absconders concerned within their jurisdiction after the issuance of an auction list.
