Mobile phones banned in classes

LAKKI MARWAT: The district education department here has asked the teachers of government schools to avoid using mobile phones in classrooms.

The directives were issued at a meeting of the principals and headmasters of the high and higher secondary schools at GHSS Tajazai on Saturday. DEO Nazir Khan chaired the meeting where among others education officers Mohammad Sheraz, Sharifullah and Nisar Mohammad were also present.

The meeting discussed matters pertaining to improving the learning environment, imparting quality education to the students and increasing enrolment in the government schools. It also discussed ways to ensure attendance of teachers and class-IV employees and increase enrolment of students in schools.

Speaking on the occasion, the district education officer asked the heads of schools to implement school timings and ensure attendance of teachers and non-teaching staff. He said that the department had no room for the employees, especially teachers, indulging in absenteeism. He also asked the headmaster to hold morning assembly, improve hygiene conditions and maintain discipline in their respective institutions.
