Rangers officer killed, another wounded in encounter

SUKKUR: An encounter between criminals and a Rangers-police team in Nawab Jagirani village of Kandhkot-Kashmore district left one Rangers man dead and another wounded on Monday.

According to ASI Athar Channa, the spokesman for Kashmore SSP, the team conducted a raid on suspected hideouts of criminals in a riverine area to arrest Alam Khan Jagirani, Nawab Jagirani, Izzat Jagirani, Ali Murad Jagirani, Laung Jagirani and their associates wanted by police in a number of cases of heinous crimes. During the raid, the joint team came under heavy gunfire which was returned by Rangers personnel, he said. ASI Channa said the attack on the team left DSR Jawed dead on the spot and DSR Asif Bungash seriously wounded.

The victims belonged to the Shahbaz Rangers 43-wing, he said.

Later, the hideouts from where the attack was launched were set on fire to force the armed men to surrender before the raiding team, the ASI said, adding that the operation was under way to flush out the criminals.

Armed attack

A group of armed men barged into a house and opened fire on inmates killing a man and seriously wounding his brother in Shahul Khan Remandani Jamali village in Jacobabad late on Sunday.

According to officials at the Mauladad police station, the attack was carried out by Wakeel Jakhrani, a nephew of deceased Elahi Bukhsh, and his associates. The wounded victim was identified as Ali Bahar Remandani Jamali.
