Sajjad, Asjad kick-start campaigns in Bangkok

KARACHI: Silver medallist of the IBSF world amateur snooker championship at Bangalore last year, Mohammad Sajjad and compatriot Asjad Iqbal opened their accounts in the Sangsom 6-Reds pro-am world snooker championship which commenced in Bangkok on Monday.

According to results available here, the two cueists fought gallantly to whip superior opponents after losing their opening fixtures.

Sajjad sent China’s Yuan Sijun packing 5-4 (1-44, 49-7, 61-9, 12-32, 20-40, 0-50, 36-23, 38-11, 37-0). Earlier he went down 3-5 to England’s Matthew Selt.

Asjad, on the other hand, brushed aside Thailand’s Ratchapol pu-ob-orm 5-2 the scores being 12-37, 41-40, 64-5, 0-41, 73-0, 62-16, 38-1.




In an earlier group match, the Pakistani cueist fall prey to Englishman Robert Milkins 2-5.

Meanwhile, former IBSF world champion, Mohammad Asif, the third Pakistani competing in the event, had suffered 3-5 loss at the hands of Wales Michael Whites in the first match.
