KARACHI: A pair of teenagers stole the show with brilliant centuries as four more matches were decided in the KCCA Commissioner Karachi Cup here on Monday.
Playing for Commrade Sports, under-16 openers Jahanzeb Sultan and Zaryab Khan reached three figures to help their post 272-5 in the stipulated 50 overs against Prince Imtiaz CC at the Pak Star Ground.
Jahanzeb hit 123 from 102 balls with the aid of 11 boundaries and two sixes while Zaryab contributed a sedate 110 off 163 deliveries as the young guns added 246 for the first wicket.
Prince Imtiaz CC, in reply, were dismissed for 192 in the 40th over to lose by 80 runs. Haq Nawaz made 47 (six fours).
Off-spinner Tauqir Malik captured four wickets for 15 runs and left-arm spinner Wajihuddin took 4-39.
Shah Ali Zafar was the day’s third man to score a hundred while inspiring Nazimabad Gymkhana to an emphatic 138-run victory over Delhi Boys CC at the TMC Ground.
Zafar slammed 110 off 108 balls with 14 boundaries as Nazimabad Gymkhana collected 255-5 before Delhi Boys crumbled against leg-spin of Mohammad Waqas (5-16) for a paltry tally of 117 in 24 overs.
Slow left-armer Eman Ahmed grabbed four wickets for 31 runs to help Korangi Al-Fateh CC to a six-wicket win against Al-Karam Sports at the KCCA Stadium.
Another slow left-arm bowler to excel was the experienced Osama Basharat who snared six wickets for just 26 runs after Fahad Akbar contributed 85 (six fours and four sixes) with the bat as Pak Korangi CC sealed an 85-run victory over Nazimabad Gymkhana ‘B’ at the Landhi Gymkhana Ground.
Commrade Sports beat Prince Imtiaz CC by 80 runs at Pak Star Ground.
