FC man testifies in Arshad Pappu murder caseArchive
KARACHI: An antiterrorism court on Tuesday recorded the statement of a paramilitary soldier in the Arshad Pappu murder case.
Shahjehan Baloch, a member of the national assembly belonging to the Pakistan Peoples Party from Lyari, some police officers and other accused have been charged with the murder of alleged Lyari gangster Arshad Pappu, his brother Yasir Arafat and their confidant Juma Shera. They were killed in March 2013.
On Tuesday, Frontier Constabulary (FC) personnel Muhammad Jaffar and Syed Bacha Khan appeared in court to record their evidence as prosecution witnesses.
The court recorded the statement of Jaffar, who deposed that on the night of the incident he along with the then Kalakot SHO, Inspector Chand Khan Niazi, and others went to the Defence area in a police van and took the custody of an unidentified detained man.
He further testified that they brought the detainee to Mirza Adam Khan Road in Lyari and Inspector Niazi, an absconding accused in the case, handed him over to some other men travelling in an SUV and whose faces were covered.
