DFIs told to extend easy agri creditArchive
ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister Ishaq Dar on Tuesday directed the development finance institutions (DFIs) to simplify their business processes for extension of credit to farmers.
He was presiding over a meeting that reviewed disbursement of agriculture credit.
Finance Secretary Dr Waqar Masood Khan spoke on procedures and criteria currently adopted for grant of agricultural credit and shared related figures.
State Bank Governor Ashraf Mehmood Wathra outlined the contribution of the Zarai Taraqiati Bank and other commercial banks in supporting the agriculture sector.
The meeting considered measures to facilitate access of farmers to the agriculture credit available through different institutions.
Earlier, speaking at a roundtable conference on “Pakistan paradise for investment,” Ishaq Dar said that Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) was vital for economic development of any country, including Pakistan.
China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, he said, would play a vital role to achieve the goals set for economic growth.
