Pakistan Davis Cup squad gear up for Turkey tie

KARACHI: Pakistan Davis Cup squad, after having assembled at Istanbul last week, got some good practice at Istanbul’s Tennis Complex where they were especially invited to stay and play as guests by the president and owners of the complex.

Aqeel Khan, Samir Iftikhar and Abid Akbar played friendly matches against Turkey’s number two player and a member of the Bulgarian national team visiting Turkey. The sessions were also witnessed by ex-Davis Cupper and PTF’s Chairman of the Selection Committee, Khwaja Saeed Hai. Later, the squad was joined by Pakistan’s top player Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi and the Pakistan squad reached Izmir, the venue of the Davis Cup tie.

The players have undergone daily practice and training sessions under the supervision of Hameedul Haq at the UTEM courts where the matches are to be played.
