KARACHI: Most of the visitors at the Dawn Media Group’s two-day Karachi High Life Exhibition, which began at the Palm Marquee in Clifton on Saturday, were interested in home items such as carpets and rugs, furniture and handicrafts.
“I was following the brand,” said a woman, Amna Zahid, at the Pasha’s Carpet stall. “I found out through their website that they had a stall here so here I am. I think I found what I was looking for,” she added.
“This carpet stall, EWC Interiors and Habitt are the three stalls that have my interest,” said another customer, Shazia Shoaib, who was there with her daughter, Ayesha, to help her decide on a rug. “I would have been happier had there been a food court inside to keep my kids busy as I did my shopping but the food street is outside,” she said. “We’ll be visiting it together later,” she added.
“We are renovating our home and this exhibition seems to have happened just at the right time for us as here we can compare the prices of several items before deciding on buying,” said Zafar Iqbal looking at LED lights at the Osaka Bulbs stall with his wife.
Abrar Bawany, looking at handicrafts at EWC Interiors, said he was glad to have something to do for the weekend. “It is not just shopping for household goods, it is also learning something positive about your country,” he said. “I am educating myself about how these beautiful handicrafts are produced and the artisans who do the work,” he said admiring a pretty basket.
Omar Khan, another visitor looking for a good mattress at the Diamond Supreme stall, said he liked the idea of this very discerning market for the selective high-end consumer.
Featuring a host of Pakistan’s premium home brands in furnishings, carpets, upholstery and more, the inaugural Karachi High Life Exhibition will be open on Sunday, too, from 11am to 10pm.
