Iranian bank to open branch ‘very soon’: CGArchive
LAHORE: An Iranian bank will open its first branch in Karachi “very soon,” as the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) and the Central Bank of Iran have already finalised all modalities, according to Iranian Consul General Mohammad Hossein Bani Asadi.
Speaking at the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) on Tuesday, Mr Asadi said Iran wants to be a part of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
The Iranian consul general, who was heading a three-member delegation of the Iranian Construction Group, said Iran and Pakistan should take measures to enhance the mutual trade volume.
He said Iran is ready to fulfil the growing energy needs of Pakistan, adding that the Pakistan-Iran Gas Pipeline project can be completed in a short span of time.
LCCI President Abdul Basit said collaboration between Pakistani and Iranian businesses in CPEC-related projects can go a long way.
He said both sides should conduct market research to strengthen trade relations between the two countries.
