Gulzar gets miffedArchive
Lyricist and film-maker Gulzar is not one who would get provoked by a mere question. But last week he lost his cool when, at the music launch of the film Motu Patlu, a journalist sought his views on the current tensions between India and Pakistan.
The seasoned writer in response asked her whether her question was relevant to the occasion for which they had gathered. When she insisted that it was a ‘national’ issue, Gulzar sahib said how would she feel if she went to a wedding and talked about the ‘frontiers’ there.
It cut no ice with the pen-pusher and she insisted on getting the answer, even from film-maker Vishal Bhardwaj who was sitting next to Gulzar. Man, some journos, sorry, most of them, need to do a course in media studies before they enter the field.
