PML-N leader asks PTI lawmakers to serve people or resignArchive
PESHAWAR: PML-N central senior vice president Engineer Amir Muqam on Wednesday said PTI chairman Imran Khan should either stop calling parliament bogus or avoid drawing salary from there.
He added that the PTI chief and other party members should resign from the National Assembly so that fresh by-elections could be held to enable the people to send ‘serious’ politicians to parliament as their representatives.
Accompanied by PML-N provincial general secretary Rahmat Salam Khattak and information secretary Nasir Khan Musazai,
Mr. Muqam told reporters at the Peshawar Press Club that there was a clear contradiction between words and deeds of Imran Khan, who called the National Assembly fake but received perks and privileges as its member despite the fact that he’d rendered no service for the people since his election.
He said keeping in view his ‘tall claims’, the people gave the PTI 34 National Assembly seats but Imran Khan insulted their mandate time and again by absenting himself from the house.
“The people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province had taken a wrong decision by voting the PTI to power in the province. Not a single mega project has been initiated during the PTI government’s tenure and therefore, the people are fast quitting the PTI,” he said.
The PML-N leader said the PTI chief had no serious issue to talk about and that his only target was Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his family but the people had no time for useless rallies and sit-ins.
He said parliament was not of the prime minister or PML-N, but it represented more than 20 million people of the country. Mr. Muqam said the PTI had gained 90 percent of the KP people’s mandate in the last elections but it miserably failed to live up to their expectations thereafter.
He criticised the PTI for boycotting the joint session of parliament during the address of Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan saying Imran Khan’s stand went against national interests so he had no right to remain MNA.
The PML-N leader said Turkey had very close relations with Pakistan so that PTI members should’ve shown national zeal by welcoming its president.
He said the PTI parliamentarians had continuously insulted the people’s mandate, so they should tender resignations and give a chance to other people to represent the poor people in the assembly.
Mr. Muqam said it was Imran Khan’s mission to create law and order on arrival of foreign delegations as he had observed prolonged sit-in on the arrival of the Chinese president in 2014 and used the same tactics during the visit of Turkish president now.
He said the PTI leadership had wasted two and a half years of the nation by playing the politics of allegations and sit-ins.
“Imran is locking down cities but (PM) Nawaz Sharif is trying to open new avenues of development in the country. That is the real difference between the two,” he said.
The PML-N leader alleged that Imran Khan was working on an anti-state agenda and that it was not Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf and instead, it was ‘Tehreek-i-Intishaar’ (party of instability). He said those criticising the federal government leaders from the rooftops of containers were against the country’s development and progress.
