City School teams excel on KL tourArchive
KARACHI: Boys and girls teams comprising cricket, futsal and netball players from The City School PAF Chapter recently undertook a short and successful tour to Kaula Lumpur, Malaysia which was organized by Gohar Raza, President, Pakistan School Sports Olympic.
The tour was divided into two stages. In the first part of the tour, the boys under-17 and under-12 cricket and futsal teams toured KL from July 6-14 while in the second stage the girls under-16 netball team toured KL from July 16-23.
The boys under-17 team won the cricket event in style in which several they beat the host teams while the under-12 cricket team of boys finished runner-up in their category. The City School boys teams overall displayed spirited, competitive and disciplined cricket against teams from Malaysia.
In futsal, the under-12 boys team won the event handsomely against the KL outfit while the under-17 boys team finished runner-up in their category of futsal contest.
The girls under-16 netball team also gave a tough fight to the host team and displayed fine technique but narrowly lost the match to finish runner-up in their event.
Gohar Raza, a former athlete himself and a senior Karachi athletics official was chef-de mission on the Kualal Lumpur tour. Mohammad Riaz was the manager for both boys and girls teams while Mohammad Rafi was the coach for boys unit and Raheela Raza and Hajra Ghanchi were the coaches for girls netball team.
