Armed clash leaves one dead, many wounded in Jacobabad

SUKKUR: Tension gripped Meeran village of Jacobabad district when two groups belonging to the Buledi tribe fought a gun battle on Sunday. Initial reports suggested that at least one person among the many wounded died before being taken to hospital.

Residents of the village told the media that the attackers armed with sophisticated weapons were outsiders belonging to the same tribe. They said they responded with a counter-attack forcing them to retreat and leave the village.

Garhi Khero police attributed the episode to an old enmity between the rival groups. They said many people were wounded in the clash and taken to the Garhi Khero hospital, where one of them, Dilmurad alias Makhno Buledi, was declared dead on arrival.
