There are 4,318 active cases of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and 6,971 people have recovered, Health Principal Secretary Amit Mohan Prasad said.

Prasad said ASHA workers were engaged in tracking migrant labourers who have returned to Uttar Pradesh from other states. Timely testing of suspected patients can lead to early recovery, he added.

Anamika Shukla had allegedly worked in 25 schools for months and withdrew over Rs 1 crore in salaries for more than a year till last February.

Stating that migrants are unhappy with the Yogi Adityanath’s led government, Yadav said the SP may stitch alliances with small outfits to ensure representation of all sections of society.

While two of the migrant workers died on the spot, another succumbed to his injuries at a district hospital. The injured were referred to the Trauma Centre in Lucknow and are currently under treatment there.

Railways Superintendent of Police Soumitra Yadav said in the first incident a 29-year-old migrant worker from Sitapur, identified as Kanhaiya Lal, died in a Shramik Special returning from Bhavnagar in Gujarat to Basti in Uttar Pradesh.
