Probe into non-payment of containers’ rent orderedPakistan
LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Wednesday directed the Punjab inspector general of police (IGP) to appoint an officer of rank of deputy inspector general (DIG) for holding an inquiry into a dispute of non-payment of rent against the containers used by police to block roads during Azadi and Inqilab marches last year.
Rana Shahid Jamil filed a petition and stated through his counsel that he had supplied 30 containers to police and a bill of Rs3.1 million was also submitted to the respondent but the payment had not been made so far.

However, police officers concerned rejected the petitioner’s claim, saying the department had obtained two containers only from the petitioner and payment against the rented containers been made to him.

When the petitioner’s counsel contested the police version, the court directed the IGP to get the matter probed by an officer not below the rank of DIG and submit a report within two weeks.
