Balochistan, Oracle sign MoU for training of IT professionals

QUETTA: The Balochistan government and Oracle Corporation, a US multinational computer technology firm, have signed an MoU (memorandum of understanding) under which the latter will impart advanced training to IT (information technology) professionals in Balochistan.

The MoU was signed by Director General of Information Technology Khalid Sherdil and Managing Director of Oracle Pakistan Ahsen Jawed at a ceremony held in Islamabad on Thursday.

Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik Baloch, US Ambassador to Pakistan Richard Olson and Chief Secretary of Balochistan Saifullah Chattha attended the ceremony.

According to an official statement issued here, the PDWP of P&D Department, government of Balochistan, has already approved the project worth $1 million and funds have been earmarked for its speedy execution during the current fiscal year.

It is noteworthy that in October last year Ambassador Olson had personally led an IT trade mission from Pakistan to the US for the promotion of bilateral collaboration in the IT sector between the two countries.

Consequently, the Balochistan government embarked upon a human resource development strategy to impart advanced training in various fields to professionals in the province.
