Two pro-government tribal elders killed in in Bajaur

BAJAUR: Two pro-government tribal elders were killed separate Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blasts in Bajaur Agency on Tuesday.

According to Assistant Political Agent (APA) of Bajaur, Muhammad Ali Khar, a tribal elder Malik Younus was killed while three of his companions were injured in the roadside blast in Gulu Shah Area in Salarzai tehsil of Bajaur tribal agency.

Security forces reached the spot and cordoned off the area. The injured were shifted to a nearby hospital.

Malik Younus was an active pro-government leader and was heading the peace committee in Salarzai tehsil of agency.

Later in the day, another pro-government tribal elder Malik Musanif Khan was killed in Mohmand tehsil of the agency. Musanif was on his way to home from a nearby mosque after attending evening prayers when a planted IED exploded, killing him on the spot.

Security forces cordoned off the area after the incident and started a search operation to catch the culprits.

At least three armed men opened aerial firing outside a girls school in Misri Banda area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province's Nowshehra district.

Station House Officer (SHO) Akora Khattak police station told DawnNews that three unidentified gunmen opened fire near Government Girls Middle School in Misri Banda area of the district,

"The attackers only resorted to aerial firing and fled," said the SHO. No loss of life or property was reported in the incident.

The police cordoned off the area and started a search operation in the area after the incident.
