‘Verify Musharraf’s medical certificate’Pakistan
ISLAMABAD: The complainant in the murder case of Lal Masjid cleric Abdul Rashid Ghazi on Saturday demanded verification of the medical certificate filed by former president Pervez Musharraf seeking exemption from personal appearance in the court.
When Additional District and Sessions Judge (ADSJ) Pervaizul Qadir Memon resumed hearing, Musharraf’s counsel produced the certificate along with an application seeking the exemption of Musharraf from making a personal appearance in court.
Tariq Asad, the counsel for complainant, Haroon Rashid, son of Rashid Ghazi, however, expressed doubts. He pointed out that there was no proof Gen Musharraf was getting treatment in a hospital as the certificate did not indicate the details.
He requested the court to summon the doctor, who prepared the certificate.
According to the medical certificate, Musharraf was suffering from cardiac problems. The doctors recommended treatment abroad. In April last year, Gen Musharraf left Islamabad for Karachi for treatment. While in the capital, the former army chief was shifted to the Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology (AFIC) Rawalpindi on January 2, 2014, after he developed cardiac unrest while going to the special court seized with the high treason case against him.
The counsel for Gen Musharraf on Saturday requested the ADSJ to adjourn the proceedings enabling him to produce the latest medical report of his client.
Subsequently, the court put off the hearing till November 14.
