Jewani people decry Qesco lethargyPakistan
GWADAR: Hundreds of people marched on Friday in protest against the Quetta Electric Supply Company (Qesco) for its failure to build the Gwadar-Jewani transmission line.
The protesters gathered in front of the Municipal Committee of Jewani before they started the procession led by Chairman of the Municipal Committee Manzoor Qadir, Noor Baloch of the National Party, Maulana Mohammad Amjid Ganzvi of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl and Imam Dalosh of Jamaat-i-Islami.
After parading various streets they gathered at Jewani’s main square where speakers accused Wapda and Qesco authorities of delaying work on the 132kv transmission line project despite release of required funds.
They claimed that former chief minister Dr Malik Baloch had sanctioned Rs150 million for the project.
“Despite availability of funds for the project, Qesco is not ready to start work,” Mr Qadir regretted. He said the electricity crisis in town had worsened because of the delay in the project.
The leaders called on the provincial government to take notice of the situation.
