Bridegroom arrested after aerial firing at marriage ceremony injures twoPakistan
A bridegroom was arrested on late Sunday night on charges of attempted murder, after firing shots in the air in his wedding which wounded a mother and her daughter in the metropolis’s Shershah area.
Other individuals, including a police officer, took part in the celebratory aerial firing during the marriage ceremony.
The injured woman, Kulsoom Shakil, and her daughter, Maria, suffered bullet injuries.
The injured were shifted to Civil Hospital, where Kulsoom’s condition was stated to be critical as she had sustained wounds on her head.
“The police came to know about the incident through the hospital sources and conducted raids for arrest of the suspects,” said Karachi West SSP Nasir Aftab.
The police official added that the groom and his brother were arrested, and said that sub-inspector Ali Bux and five to six other individuals were absconders.
“We would not spare anyone who resorted to firing to cause mayhem and injuries to people during marriage ceremony and triggering panic among the residents,” said the police officer.
