‘Bagh Ibne Qasim uplift under way at full pace’Pakistan
KARACHI: Restoration and rehabilitation work at the Bagh Ibne Qasim is going on at full swing and soon it will be completed after which it will be opened to public, said city mayor Waseem Akhtar on Sunday.
Briefing the media persons after a visit to the garden, he said that Bagh Ibne Qasim spread over 130 acres was the biggest park in the metropolis and being near the seaside it had special attraction for the Karachiites, who along with their children visited Clifton and the garden to get some relief from the hustle bustle of the city life.
He said that this park, like many other parks in the city, had been destroyed over the past eight years and had been closed to the public for the past couple of years.
He said that the park was being maintained by the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation for the past many decades and in 2006 it had been completely restored and rehabilitated by the KMC.
He said that the park was built on an amenity plot and its commercial use would never be allowed.
