Meet Harshita Devda, The Ujjain Woman Who Achieved 17th Rank In UPPSC PCS

One woman from Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, named Harshita Devda made her whole family and city proud by achieving an excellent rank in the UPPSC PCS (Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission Provincial Civil Service) examination. News18 exclusively reports the celebratory atmosphere in her town. Harshita Devda, a resident of the Tarana tehsil, district Ujjain, achieved the 17th rank in the UPPSC PCS examination 2023. She has been selected for the post of a Deputy Collector or SDM (Sub-Divisional Magistrate) in Uttar Pradesh. According to Harshita’s father Manglesh Devda, the family gave their full support for her education, despite their financial problems. They sent her to study in places like Indore and Delhi.

Her father proudly exclaimed that she achieved this success only because of her hard work. He revealed that she was good in studies from the start, and always prioritised her education, even before family. He further spoke saying that they encouraged her to just focus on her studies, and through this achievement she made them immensely proud.

Harshita Devda completed her early education from a government in Tarana (Madhya Pradesh), then went to the Government College GDC in Ujjain, for her college education. She had been selected for the post of Naib Tehsildar earlier, after qualifying the MPPSC (Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission) examination. At the moment, she is posted as an Excise Officer in Uttar Pradesh; now, she is expected to be at the post of Deputy Collector in the same state.

According to the reports, 5,65,459 candidates applied for the examination, out of which 3,45,022 took the preliminary examination; 4,047 candidates successfully qualified the prelims to reach the main round. 421 candidates were called for the interview round, out of which 251 successfully qualified the examination. The final list had 167 male candidates, and 84 female candidates; while in the top 20, 13 were male, and 7 were females.
