Google Doodle Celebrates 50 Years of 'Logo' With a Fun Programming Language For Kids
Google Doodle celebrates the 50th anniversary of first-ever kids programming language with a fun new Doodle which lets kids design their own codes.

Remember Logo? The programming language everyone was taught to use in their computer classes back in school, today celebrates its golden jubilee and search giant Google planned to celebrate it in a unique way. Three teams including that of Google Doodle, Google Blockly and Researchers from MIT worked together to produce Monday’s Google Doodle, which showcases a rabbit on a hunt for carrots in the form of a programming language for kids.

Marking the 50th anniversary of the first ever programming languages for children, the Google Doodle replicates Logo and allows kids to design codes to move the rabbit onto the blocks. Six levels of designing codes on the Google Doodle aim to provide them "the opportunity to explore ideas in math and science".

"Like Logo, Scratch was developed at MIT and builds on Papert’s early ideas about kids and computers. It’s designed to be less intimidating than typical programming languages, but just as powerful and expressive" adds Champika Fernando, Director of Communications, Scratch Team.
