Amit Shah Participates in Kite Flying Competition, Joins Uttarayan Festivities in Ahmedabad | Watch

Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Monday joined Uttarayan festivities as they participated in kite flying along with their supporters in Ahmedabad.

Videos showing the Union Home Minister engaging in a kite flying competition during the Uttarayan Patang Mahotsav in Ahmedabad’s Chandlodiya went viral on social media. In the video, Shah can be seen flying a kite amid cheers from his supporters.

“Best wishes to everyone on the auspicious festival of Uttarayan. May this auspicious festival bring happiness, prosperity and good health in your life,” Shah said in a post in Gujarati on X, formerly Twitter.

Earlier on Sunday, Shah offered prayers at Lord Jagannath temple in Ahmedabad in Gujarat. He also took part in Uttarayan celebrations in two Assembly seats in Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar.

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel also began the day by launching a week-long drive to clean religious places in the state to mark Makar Sankranti. He cleaned the premises of a temple near Gandhinagar as part of the drive.

In his message on X, CM Patel said, “The auspicious occasion of the prana pratistha (consecration) of the magnificent temple of Lord Shri Ram at Ayodhya is to be held on January 22, regarding which honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendrabhai Modi has called upon countrymen to undertake a campaign to clean all small and big places of worship across the country.”

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday greeted people on the occasion of Makar Sankranti and harvest festivals celebrated in different regions of the country with different names.

In his posts on X, Modi noted that the auspicious occasion of Makar Sankranti is associated with meditation and charity as he wished for good health and prosperity for everyone. He also wished people on Pongal and Magh Bihu.
