Exclusive | Anurag Kashyap's Film With Kriti Sanon Getting Shelved? Filmmaker Says 'Will Make It...'
Last year, it was reported that Anurag Kashyap's film with Kriti Sanon has been shelved due to creative differences.

In December 2021, filmmaker Anurag Kashyap announced that he was making a film with National Award-winning actor Kriti Sanon. It was reported that the film is an action thriller and is a remake of Hollywood classic Quentin Tarantino’s 2003 classic Kill Bill. However, the Gangs Of Wassepur filmmaker had clarified to News18 that the film is not a remake of Kill Bill, “It’s not a remake, it’s not even a homage. You’ll get to know (what it is) when I make it. It’s foolish to remake a classic,” he had stated.

Last year, it was reported that the film which was going to be produced by Nikhil Dwivedi had been shelved due to creative differences. Now, in an exclusive conversation with News18, Kashyap has denied it. “The rumours are amongst the media. We never said that we were not making the film. People don’t know anything and start a discussion,” he said.

Ask him the details about the film and he refuses to divulge any details, “I don’t talk about my films till the time I am completely ready to make it. During Bombay Velvet, I made some tall claims and I learned my lesson. Some projects take time to be made, and I will make this film with Kriti when I am completely ready with it.”

On the work front, Kashyap was recently seen alongside Nawazuddin Siddiqui in crime thriller Haddi which received a positive response. His directorial venture Kennedy was premiered at this year’s Cannes Film Festival.

The neo-noir thriller film written and directed by Kashyap features Sunny Leone and Rahul Bhat in the lead. Talking about casting Leone in the lead, the filmmaker says that he was convinced because she was supremely confident in her audition, “We staged an audition just to see if she (Sunny) will show up to do a small budget film like ours and she did. As I mentioned earlier, I needed a woman who is sexualised by men but at the same time it is a human story and Sunny was a perfect fit.”

Kashyap adds that Leone is often misunderstood, “People still associate her past work and her previous image. She is such an amazing human being and a beautiful mother of three children. Sunny manages her work-life balance perfectly. It is such a sad thing that people don’t see beyond her past and her face and body. I hope the audience recognises her for the hard work she has put in Kennedy.”
