WhatsApp Now Lets Users Send Self-Deleting Audio Messages After One Play
WhatsApp's 'View Once' audio messages will be auto-deleted once they are played. Here's how this new feature works.

WhatsApp is finally introducing support for “view once” audio messages that disappear once heard. This is an addition to the already existing feature in the app that lets you send “View Once” photos and videos.

Yes, while the naming is confusing, this works exactly as you would think. The audio messages that you send using this WhatsApp feature will auto-destruct once they are played. Meta notes that this would add an extra layer of privacy for users.

This can be particularly useful when sharing security-sensitive data such as credit card details, banking information, or passwords. You don’t need to worry about your data being stolen or replayed after you initially share it.

To mark a distinction and align with the “View Once” feature for photos and videos, WhatsApp will mark audio messages sent as “View Once” with a “one-time” icon.

When Is It Rolling Out?

WhatsApp notes that this feature is rolling out to users globally in the coming days. Like other updates, it could be possible that this is a staged rollout and not everyone gets the update together. So, keep checking for the update as you will get it eventually. Also, this will be available for both Android and iOS users.

In related news, WhatsApp iOS beta version 23.25.10.72 now allows WhatsApp users to share screen with the other person and listen to music together. And, interestingly, this screen share feature doesn’t limit the songs to audio; you can share music videos as well.

What's your reaction?
